💬 Voice interaction

“Alexa, lanza mi héroe a la batalla” (“send my hero into battle”) is a simple, fast and fun role-playing game. A goblin guides you through the first 100 levels of your climb up the Tower of Heroes, where you’ll grow into a better hero by defeating different monsters and taking on all kinds of challenges.

  • Defeat enemies with a combat system similar to rock, paper, scissors. Say “ataque” (“attack”), “defensa” (“defend”) or “contraataque” (“counterattack”).
  • If at any point you don’t know what to do, ask the goblin for “ayuda” (“help”).
  • To leave the game, you can say “salir del juego”, “deja de jugar” or “parar”.

🎯 Goal

To create the first RPG game for Alexa in Spanish, with an immersive, fun audio experience and an online leaderboard.

🤖 Channel

Amazon Alexa. A multimodal experience for devices with a screen (multimodal) and without a screen (voice-first).

Communication on Twitter, with its own account, so users could share their achievements with the community using the hashtag #miheroealabatalla.

🌍 Reach: languages and countries.

Available in every country that uses Alexa in Spanish from Spain (es-ES).

💻 Which technologies and libraries did we use?

Amazon Alexa features:

  • APL for the multimodal (visual only) experience on devices with a screen.
  • ISP (In-Skill Purchasing), implemented to buy a revival potion by voice for €1.
  • A website with its own global leaderboard.

💎 How did we build this voice app?

We handled the ideation, product creation, conversation design and the entire audio experience (hear and feel), which uses synthetic voices to create the goblin’s voice, building our own library to mix voices and sounds, as well as building the Alexa skill.
